Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien's pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Alan French Sunshine State Cineplex While there are moments when The Rings of Power loses some of its steam, the vital setup for the series’ future becomes a necessary evil. At the same time, plenty of moments appeal to the spectacle in Tolkien’s vision. Payne and Patrick McKay pull out all the stops in this new Tolkienian saga, armed with some spectacular visuals and arresting performances. If only, like the heroes in the epic story it tells, the series can shoulder the burdens a little while longer. Rated: 4/5 Jul 8, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

pietro s How can someone recommed this? The hobbit trilogy was already terrible compared to the book or the lord of the rings trilogy, but had its moments of beauty thanks to the portrayal of Bilbo. This looks like one of those knock offs of real movies that come out as soon as a good new title drops, like "The Avenging team" or stuff like that. - lots of digital effects ruin every shot, where there are none the "social media level" filters used are able to finish off the scene. -1 star- Incredible plot opportunities are thrown away to make mediocre copies of the several plots of lotr. -1 stars- Some scenes just do not make logic sense -1 star- Were the actors forced not to express emotions or they are in a bet on who shows less? some dwarves would lose. -1 star- the soundtrack fiddles around the original soundtrack of lotr without being original or satisfying in the end. just steal it. -1 star- the website forces you to give at least 1/2 of a star. +1/2 starIt is kinda funny to se the disparity between the vote of the public an the critics... must be a coincidence. 38% vs 83% atm. 45% disparity. so critics enjoyed it more than double the ammount. 118% more. "one dolla to rule em all" i guess could be a nice knock off title Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/20/24 Full Review Alexander G I’m gonna be honest. I don’t hate the show like the majority. I’m a huge Tolkien fan and I somewhat enjoyed the show. Is it perfect…? No. But it gets enough right to justify my rating. It’s an alright show with potential. Season 1 is not bad. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/20/24 Full Review Matthew S This show was given a hard time by many LOTR loyalists, who are comparing this show to the books and to the LOTR movies. I'm not sure if that is fair or not to the creator's or to the actor's. This show is entertaining. Some have said it isn't accurate with it's timelines. But I am not a LOTR superfan and I entered this show with an open mind. It has a giant budget and the special effects defintley show that. And I believe the acting is very good. Especially Giladria and the dwarfs. This is a cool series. That is my best way to describe it. And I am already on season 2 and it's moving the story along niceley and the character's are all fun to watch and the world they created is quite interesting! Four stars for both seasons. I will not be doing an independent review for the second season and any seasons after that. This show get's four stars for all seasons! Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/20/24 Full Review Jack F I have enjoyed Lord of the Rings since I read the hobbit back in school and continued to read the trilogy, Silmarillion and other of Tolkien's works in Arda.Whilst it has been fun to be back in Middle Earth, I could not relate to the portrayal of Galadriel in the series and believe that there perhaps too many storylines for an 8 episode series. While at another time I would be interested in the harfoot sub-plot, I cannot yet see how this relates to the wider story they are trying to tell, but perhaps some day this will hopefully be shown to me.I am still excited to see where the series will go and while it may not be the best adaption of Middle-Earth, it is good to be back. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/20/24 Full Review Ryan C This return to Middle Earth brings you to an incredibly beautiful world, from the action and adventure to the stunning costumes, music and special effects- buckle up you’re in for a heartwarming epic! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/20/24 Full Review David H I watched it, forced myself week on week, believing surely this has to get better… it really does not. I never blame actors for poor script/story but even these actors must have had to say once in a while…”why would my character do this?…” So poor, and stupid, I will not be watching season 2 (how did it get a season two???)
